ELLISVILLE, MS - The Indians ran into the hottest team in the country and were swept by No. 1 Jones County on Wednesday.

Game 1 - Bobcats 14 Indians 5

In a scheduled 9-inning game, ICC (10-6, 0-0 MACJC North) saw Jones County contine to swing red-hot bats to take a 12-0 lead after four innings of Game 1.

The Indians got on the board in the top of the fifth when Tanner Poole (Amory) singled and scored as part of a two-run home run by Drew Wheeler (Mooreville).

Down 14-2, the Indians mounted a small rally in the top of the seventh when Chris Conard (Water Valley) was hit by a pitch and scored when Nick Brooks (Starkville) doubled to center. Anthony Mallard (Verona) was hit by a pitch and scored on a ground out by Luke Gibbs (Oxford) before a sac fly by Wheeler pushed across Brooks.

Wheeler finished the game with three RBIs.

Ethan Gill (Pontotoc) went 2-for-4 as the Indians combined for 10 hits in the loss.


Game 2 - Bobcats 12 Indians 2 (6 innings)

The top-ranked Bobcats jumped out to an 8-0 first-inning lead and never looked back as they completed the sweep of the Indians with a 12-2 Game 2 win in six innings.

The Indians picked their only runs of the game when Gill scored on a single by Gable Butler (Tishomingo) and Hayden Williams (Amory) singled and later scored on a pass ball in the top of the fourth.

Williams and Wheeler went 2-for-3 as the Indians combined for seven hits in the loss.
