Indians open the season with a 3-0 win over Calhoun

FULTON, MS - ICC opened the 2014 season with a 3-0 win over Calhoun Community College (AL) in Game 1 of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.

The Indians (1-0, 0-0 MACJC North) got on the board in the first inning when Tanner Poole (Amory) scored on a double steal before Drew Wheeler (Mooreville) added the second run of the inning on a single by Cameron Coker (Germantown, TN).

ICC tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Ethan Gill (Pontotoc) scored on a single by Russ Johnson (Hatley).

Wheeler, Poole, Luke Gibbs (Oxford) and Andy Bowman (Millington, TN) also singled while Brayden Owen (Tupelo) and Bryce Williams (Ridgeland) added a double to round out the Indians 7-hit performance.

Brady Chambley (Winona) allowed six hits and struck out four to pick up a shutout victory in his first collegiate start.

Coach Rick Collier earned his 400th career win as head coach of the Indians.
