FULTON, Miss. – Itawamba Community College Athletic Director Carrie Ball-Williamson, has announced the addition of women's volleyball to its intercollegiate athletic programs. The program will begin in the fall of 2019 with current plans to begin competition in the fall of the 2020-21 academic year.

"We are happy to announce the addition of women's volleyball to our athletic programs here at ICC," said Ball-Williamson. "Volleyball has been growing very fast in our part of the state. We are excited to help continue the growth of the sport and offer a new opportunity for young women to be able to continue their education through athletics."

The inaugural season will be dedicated to establishing the foundation of the program. Student-athletes participating in 2019 will not lose a year of eligibility. ICC is the second community college in the state to add volleyball to its intercollegiate athletic programs.

ICC will now offer 11 sports, including six men's and five women's programs.

The search for the program's head coach will begin in the near future, according to Ball-Williamson.

ICC also announced the addition of archery to its club sports.

The non-NJCAA sanctioned program will be advised by Michael Nanney and will join the nationally-recognized ICC Bass Fishing Team as another unique co-ed extracurricular activity opened to all incoming freshmen and returning students in good academic standing.

All incoming or current ICC students interested in joining the ICC Archery Club Team are encouraged to email archery@iccms.edu for more information.

"It is extremely important to us at the College to respond to the growing desires on the part of our students for greater offerings," said Dr. Jay Allen, ICC President. "By adding additional sports and activities, we are expanding the College's ability to draw top students who are seeking an academically rigorous education that includes a strong student involvement with a diversity of offerings here at ICC."
